Close to 70 Hungarian companies represented Hungary at a series of business and cultural events organised by the Hungarian Consulate General in Chongqing, the Hungarian National Trading House and the Bank of China in Chongqing. Hundreds of bilateral business meetings were held by the Hungarian entrepreneurs and numerous cooperation agreements were signed.
Important Hungarian presence
The China (Chongqing) – Hungary Trade and Investment Promotion Fair, which took place in the Western Chinese city of Chongqing between 16 and 21 May 2017, welcomed a record number of business delegates from Hungary.
As part of a series of 24 events held over six days, a Conference on China-Hungary SME Cross-border Investment & Trade Cooperation was jointly organised by Hungary’s Consulate General in Chongqing, the Hungarian National Trading House and the Bank of China. Almost 70 Hungarian companies presented their products and services in the 180 sqm large Hungarian national pavilion. Chinese companies could discover, among others, solutions that are indispensable for the future development of Chongqing and its region, such as green technologies, Smart City solutions, environment-friendly innovative solutions, water management technologies, ICT solutions and food products.
Hundreds of bilateral business meetings for Hungarian companies
The Hungarian entrepreneurs attending the business forum had hundreds of meetings in total, while 13 economic cooperation agreements were signed, including concerning the IT, logistics and food industry segments.
“Chongqing is one of China’s fastest developing provinces, the automotive and IT centre of the country, South-West China’s economic and trade hub. The region, therefore, offers significant market opportunities for Hungarian businesses. However, in order to turn demand for Hungarian products and technologies into specific forms of business cooperation, we must position our range of products on the Chinese market, expand the contact network of Hungarian companies, and pass on knowledge the required for successful export activities. I am confident that this business program will help Hungarian businesses achieve tangible business results in the near future”, said Gábor Kun, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hungarian National Trading House.
World’s most advanced exhaust manufacturing technology to arrive in Hungary
In connection with the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó signed a strategic agreement with the Bohong Group, a world leader in exhaust device production. Under the cooperation agreement the Chinese company already employing 1200 people in Hungary will implement a 9000 million HUF investment in Oroszlány, bringing state-of-the-art technologies for exhaust pipe manufacturing to Hungary.
